Form Watcher Add-on
FormWatcher is a Firefox Add-On. Add-ons add functionality to the web browser. formWatcher adds the following to your browsing experience:
- A form counter is added to the bottom of the browser window. This function looks for forms on each page you visit. The counter is color-coded.
- When the counter is green, it is likely that the forms on the page are being used to retrieve data stored on a server, rather than taking your data and storing it on a server.
- The counter is red when there is a form on the page that is posting information to a server. This usually means a web entity is collecting information about you.
- When the counter is yellow, it is unclear to the software what the entity is doing with your information. This usually means the site is not using a standard form method.
- Two buttons are added to the bottom of your browser. One will take you to the selfdisclosed.com website, and the other will open the Add/Edit window.
- Two preferences are offered.
- The Automation preference will cause the Add/Edit window to open every time you submit a form to a website, when the website is clearly storing information about you. You can still use the more manual functions.
- The SaveToFile preference allows you to directly store your data to a file on your computer. If you choose this preference you will NOT be able to use the visualization tools provided on selfdisclosed.com.
A new experimental version of formWatcher is available for free download. It is available as is, without any guarantees. Click here to download a zip file. Change the file extension from .zip to .xpi. Drag the .xpi file on top of your browser window, and the add-on will automatically initiate the installation process.
